Principal's Message

Wright Elementary School has served the Altoona community since 1971. Our school is composed of a wide range of backgrounds, talents, learning styles, and abilities. Wright Elementary is proud of its history, warmth, and inviting school climate.

Staff members value teamwork, professional growth, and parent involvement. Wright embraces the community of learners and tailors to the strengths of each child.

Wright has three full day kindergarten classrooms, TIMS technology integration, a Literacy Coach, EAP Tutoring, and learning support and inclusion classrooms. Our special education teachers work closely with the general education teachers to provide strategies to meet the needs of all of our students.

Technology is infused into the curriculum through integrated activities both in the computer labs and using other updated technology tools. Our 2 new carts on wheels with 40 laptops have made a welcome addition to our technology integration at Wright. Differentiated instruction practices are designed to engage learners in small groups throughout the day.

Our goal is accomplished through collaboration with teachers and parents. It pledges our commitment to improve the academic achievement of all students. Wright Elementary is truly a community of learners!

Parents: There is a binder and two audio tapes in the office at Wright Elementary School discussing ESL (English as a Second Language) for students and parents.

They are available for any parent to borrow and review. You may ask the secretary or principal for these materials.

Additional information may be found at the ESL website.
